B97 Blue - Albion Cup Champions
B97_BLUE 21 JUL 2010 - Chelsea SC B97 entered the 2010 Albion Cup National Showcase in San Diego to test the hardest competition from across the country and also various parts of the world (Thailand was represented this year). The boys only gave up only 1 goal the entire tournament and had to beat two Gold teams from NoCal to win it all.

B97 had to play 5 games in just 2 1/2 days, fight through injuries
and very physical play. They won the overall bracket play and beat a very talented Castro Valley team (Sacramento) in the final game on Monday by a close score of 2-1.

This by far has been the best tournament these boys have played and the bonding time they enjoyed braces them for great success this Fall. We are so very proud of you all.
  B97 Blue - League Champions
B97_BLUE 24 NOV 2009 - Since Spring of 2009, Chelsea SC B97 Blue had one mission... to win their bracket in fall and get promoted to Silver. Using our mission statement since we started... "the team that prays together, stays together", the bond these young men have created will never be broken.

The team took no time off this year, played in 5 tournaments against top flight competition and worked on a possession game to out maneuver their opponents. Led by team captains Brian Hai, Logan Harrigan and Andy Norin, these young men exceeded all expectations. In just their 2nd year together, the defense only gave up 10 goals all season. The defensive crew leading the way was Logan Harrigan in goal (who posted 7 shutouts), Brandon Kretschmer at center back, Riley Villanueva, Mason Mitzner and Seth Revuelda on the outside, Connor Leech and Joshua Gutierrez sharing time at Stopper.

Our midfield was the most improved unit this year with many of our goals coming from this highly skilled group of boys. With Andy Norin, Chase Gray and Eric Kamin sharing duties on the outside, Brian Hai, Isaac Meda and Joshua Gutierrez shared time holding down our center mid posts. Finally, newcomers Kevin Villareal (who led our team in goals) and Parker Hodges (who led our team in running through whatever was in front of him) alongside our veteran Steve Vizarraga playing the role of Ronaldo on top brought forth a new attacking dimension we never had.

Our team speed, overall defensive organization and keen technical superiority was the key to the season's success. Congratulations boys on being promoted to Silver. Your coaching staff and parents could never be more proud. Looking for to meeting our goals in 2010 while growing in the beautiful game.
Chelsea Makes It 4 of 5
B97_BLUE 30 AUG 2009 - Chelsea SC B97 Blue has medaled in 4 out of its last 5 tournaments, most recently a finalist in last weekend's Kick-Off Classic.

Once again, Chelsea played the best competition available that weekend, focusing on playing against only top flight teams. Chelsea went on to beat two silver elite teams (Santa Monica United and Arsenal FC) and one silver team (Legends FC). Chelsea's only defeat was a 2-1 loss to the Pateadores Blue (Gold Team).

Chelsea dominated much of the play against the Pats and held on to a 1-0 lead until a questionable PK was awarded late in the game. After the Pat's converted, another quick goal was scored by the Pats strong offense. Nevertheless, this team continues to do well against higher bracketed teams and looks forward to the start of the Fall season.

Great job boys... your coaches and parents are very proud of you all!
B97 United Cup Bracket Winners and Finalist
B97_BLUE 09 AUG 2009 - Chelsea continues to focus its efforts on playing the toughest competition available and showed its dominance again with strong pool play against some strong Silver level teams. After tying United FC 1-1 in our first game, Chelsea went on to beat the Wolves 4-1 (congrats Kevin for the hat trick) and dominated the Corona Eagles by a score of 5-1. These games however took a toll on our players causing our two starting strikers to go down with injuries and missing the championship game.

In the Championship game, Chelsea's opponent were the Pateadores Blue (Gold). The very rested Pats were playing in their only game on Sunday but Chelsea was ready. The Pats struck first but Chelsea was able to tie it up with an incredible breakaway goal by Parker Hodges. This was the first goal the Pats had allowed all weekend. Chelsea got a bit unlucky in the subsequent minutes and gave up two very good goals by the strong Pats offense. Still, Chelsea continued to take on the challenge and held the Pats scoreless in the 2nd half. Playing a Gold team as tough as we did shows how far this team has come. This is the 3rd time the team has medaled (2 Championships and 1 Finalist) in 4 tournaments of 2009.
B97 Blue Champions at Irvine Summer Classic
B97_BLUE 28 JUN 2009 - Chelsea SC B97 Blue won their second straight tournament going 4-0 and allowing only 3 goals. Chelsea saved its best performances for the Sunday matches needing first to win against American United (Silver) to advance. Chelsea dominated the entire game with many scoring chances which finally led to two goals by Brian Hai and a 2-1 victory. Logan Harrigan was very strong in goal with great midfield play by Andy Norin and Isaac Meda.

Chelsea played Laguna Niguel in the Championship who went into the game scoring more goals than any other team. They were not prepared for our speed and stifling defensive pressure. Led by Seth Rivuelda and Joshua Gutierrez, Laguna was held to only one shot on goal in the first half. Exceptional play up front by Kevin Villareal led to our scoring with constant pressure applied by Parker Hodges keeping Laguna scrambling. Another dominating team performance led to a 3-1 victory and the championship. Great job boys, let's keep on rolling!
Chelsea B97 Blue Makes it to the Quarter Finals at Cal Cup
B97_BLUE 23 FEB 2009 - Chelsea B97 Blue entered Cal Cup to play the best competition CSL has to offer. After playing in a bracket with LAFC (going Gold), Chelsea scored 7 goals and only allowed 1 goal in its first 3 games to move on to the next round. This is an accomplishment worth noting as bronze teams are not expected to make it this far.

Led by a strong defensive effort, Chelsea dominated play and showed why they can play against any team at any level in CSL.

What a team effort. Congratulations boys!

B97 Blue DBWV Winter Shootout Champions
B97_BLUE 27 JAN 2009 - Used as a tune up for next weekend's difficult State Cup bracket, the B97 Blue team played their best soccer yet. Starting with their first game in severe rain and poor field conditions, Chelsea dominated play against a very strong Legends FC... the same team who beat our boys last year 6-2 in one of our first tournaments. The boys went on to defeat Freedom FC 4-0 with 4 goals in the first half across a ten minute opening span. Winning their bracket, Chelsea went up against LAFC on Sunday to come on top with a 3-1 victory.

In the finals, Chelsea went on to play one of the top Silver Elite teams in Southern California, LA Rampage. Down 2-0 with 15 minutes left, Chelsea went onto to score 3 unanswered goals on their way to victory. Spurred on by the roaring fans, Chelsea dominated the second half of play with the drive and determination Chelsea teams are known for. It was a great tournament for our boys to show off the skills they have learned all year and the possession game they worked so hard at. I have never been so proud of a team. Congrats B97 Blue!
B97 Blue Finalist at the 2008 California Cup
B97_BLUE 21 AUG 2008 - The B97 Blue had another impressive tournament run making it into the Finals against a very tough FC Mesa Team. A last minute goal cost the boys the championship but play was certainly dominated by Chelsea from the opening whistle.

As a first year team, these young men are coming together quite well and are ready for a great year ahead of them!
