Chelsea SC-LBPD is a Law Enforcement team comprised of 14 sworn officers, plus 2 family members of teammates (total roster of 16 players). The team has begun regular practice in preparation for their upcoming arena soccer league season. League play will begin in late November.

The members of Chelsea SC-LBPD are very thankful for the generous sponsorship from the Long Beach Police Officer's Association (LBPOA)! Affiliation with Chelsea SC is a great opportunity for the members of this team. The members of Chelsea SC-LBPD will have several opportunities to raise money for the LBPOA's Widow and Orphan Fund and Chelsea SC youth soccer program. This team will also compete in Public Relations Games and Police vs. Fire Charity Games.

Their goal in addition to the above mentioned games and charity is to play in Police Olympic Games and Police/Fire tournaments.

The Officers and family members playing for Chelsea SC are very excited about the potential of this team and the positive things they can produce in the name of the Long Beach Police Department, LBPOA and the Chelsea Soccer Club.

Below is the current roster of players:

Ernesto Bolanos (#11), Joel Cook (#6), Brian Dapello (#17), Carlos Del Real (#7), Mike Deprete (#8), Johnny Dodson (#13), Austin Gludt (#28), Joe Gludt (#18), Clint Grimes (#5), Stephanie Hall (#12), Addiel Julian (#1), Jacqueline Parkhill (#3), Santos Perez (#14), Dave Poss (#20), Jose Rodriguez (#2), and Lorenzo Uribe (#27).

For further information about the Long Beach Police Department and the Long Beach Police Officer's Association visit:

http://www.lbpoa.org/aspprotect/lbpoa-1024.asp

http://www.longbeach.gov/police/

http://www.chelseasc.org/index.php?ct=pages/news&year=2010&news=Introducing_Chelsea_SC-LBPD

G99 Blue - 2010 United Cup Finalists

Congratulations to Chelsea G99 as they reached the finals at the 2010 United Cup!

The girls did well enough in pool play to earn themselves a top-seed in the semi-finals, making it three tournaments in a row where they've advanced as far. Good thing too, because the final game of the bracket proved to be somewhat lackluster, dropping the game 0-2.

The semifinals was a rematch with TV Hawks, a game where previously the girls came from behind to win. With another trip to the finals on the line, the team played hard and netted an important - and ultimately game-winning - goal just seconds before halftime.

The second half brought more excitement and enthusiasm with Chelsea slotting two more goals for a 3-0 victory, and climbed into a place in the finals for the second time this summer season.

On a late Monday afternoon, the G99's played perhaps their most impressive game of the summer. Full of heart, teamwork, and resiliency, Chelsea battled Arsenal FC, a team that had scored 34 goals in the tournament games prior, to a 0-1 halftime score.

The second half was more battling, and intense effort. Though the girls didn't manage to win the game on the scoreboard, they did secure an inspiring showing on the field, and could hold their heads up high with pride knowing they gave everything they could, including a few bumps and bruises!

Congratulations Girls! We are incredibly proud of you!

http://www.chelseasc.org/index.php?ct=pages/news&year=2010&news=G99_Blue_-_2010_United_Cup_Finalists

B01 Blue Finalists at Xtreme Cup

In only their 2nd tournament together, the Chelsea BU9 squad powered through with some solid wins and only one loss to the very powerful Celtic Harps Silver Team. They played against a number of northern California teams as well as a few southern California teams. It was an amazing weekend of soccer and bonding for the players and families. The greatest thing they came away with aside from a Finalist Medal was a love each other and team unity that can't be beat.

The girls played 6 games with a lot of heart and tenacity. Games were against Washington Rush with a 4-0 win, Surf White with a 3-3 tie, and against Gryphons they had a 4-0 win. In quarter finals they beat Placer United with a 3-1 win, and in semi-fnials the win was 3-1 vs Pleasanton Rage. In every game the girls used their exceptional passing skills and speed to complete each victory.

In the finals they met Legends where the game was played almost completely in the mid-field. The game went into 2 periods of overtime ending in a 0-0 tie. The girls were disappointed with a loss in PKs, however, parents couldn't be prouder of how the girls played all weekend. Coming away with a finalist medal in such a prestigious tournament is something everyone was ecstatic about. Overall, the team had 17 goals for and 5 against, more goals for then any other team in the U12 division, what a weekend!

http://www.chelseasc.org/index.php?ct=pages/news&year=2010&news=G98_Blue_-_Mustang_Stampede_Finalists

G97 Black - San Diego Open Champions

Chelsea G97 Black traveled to hot and humid El Cajon to compete against some of the best club teams in the San Diego area in the San Diego Open. Despite only four months together, the team's progress in all aspects of the game (particularly team-play, multiple formations, skill building, defensive strategy and shape, and finishing) showed tremendous improvement. The defense had some of their best games yet, with two shutouts and only one goal given up in each of the other two tournament games. Excitement followed the girls through their very solid midfield to their attacking force, with great support, perfect assists, breakaway goals, and a hat-trick.

After two decisive shutouts, Chelsea found themselves down 1-0 against the Nomads in their most challenging game of the tournament, but the girls kept their poise, played solid soccer, and pulled off a critical goal to tie game 3 with less than a minute left. Chelsea took an early 1-0 lead in the final game, only to have the Matrix come back to tie. Two more Chelsea goals toward the end of the final game solidified a 3-1 victory and our championship.

We are so proud of our team's progress and performance, and are looking forward to a challenging season in the bronze bracket.
Congratulations Girls! The tournament started and ended with hard-fought battles against PSA's own G00 Blue team. Chelsea took the tournament opener win from the PSA girls in a 5-2 match, scoring two important goals in the final minutes. Next the Chelsea girls faced Corona United, emerging with an 8-0 shutout victory in the sweltering heat. Sunday morning saw Chelsea Blue vs Chelsea Black in the Semi Finals where Chelsea Blue won in a very exciting 3-1 match. Facing PSA Blue again for the Championship, in the worst of the mid-afternoon heat, the game ended in a 1-1 tie, then in the first 5 minute overtime period, the referee caught a handball in the goalkeeper's box which resulted in a penalty kick for Chelsea. Chelsea's Morgan Weinstein took the kick and brought home the trophy for the Chelsea girls.

Your Chelsea Girls are:

Top Row, Right to Left; Coach Pete, Brooke Franks, Hannah Alfaro, Sofia Rose Delgadillo, Nicole Zepeda, Morgan Weinstein, Regan Millsap, Coach Fernando and Coach Chris.
Front Row; Vandana Kadiamada, Rana Yamak, The Trophy, Mia Bannon, Zariah Nogales, Sophia Kim. In an exciting (and long) 3 day tournament, the G99 team came away with a hard fought 2-1 victory over West Coast FC in the finals on Monday evening. After going up 2-0 at the half, the girls fought to the finish and came away with a well-deserved tournament championship.

Ironically, the weekend started out with the same opponent, but different result, losing to West Coast 0-2. From there the group rebounded, with a refreshing pool party, and came back out to the field ready to go, winning 2-0, to set up a make-it-or-break-it third game on Sunday morning.

Chelsea took the lead 1-0 early in the second-half against the Oceanside Breakers, who only needed a tie to advance to the semi-finals. While the Breakers created several quality chances to even the score late in the game, the goalkeeping prowess of Izzy Magana proved to be equal to the challenge.

This victory set up a Monday afternoon showdown with TV Hawks, a team who had won all three of their preliminary games, and had yet to give up a goal. The Chelsea girls found themselves down early in the match, 0-1. Even after the girls tied the game, a late goal made the game 1-2 at the half.

Pumped up and confident, the girls came out ready to play the second half, but gave up yet another goal to find themselves down 1-3, and the parents pondering an early return home. Then the magic happened.

In the 20 minutes that remained, against a team who hadn't given up any goals in the preceding games, the Chelsea girls lit up the scorecard by netting 5 goals, including a hat-trick by Sierra Chhoeung, punting the final tally to 6-3, and catapulting the team into the finals.

In the final game, the girls were able to avenge their earlier loss to West Coast and sealed up their victory with two outstanding goals, and a dynamite performance by goalkeeper Emma Deane.

Congratulations Girls! We are so proud of you! Whoo-Whoo!

http://www.chelseasc.org/index.php?ct=pages/news&year=2010&news=G99_Blue_-_Carlsbad_Cup_Champions
